Reviewing Ruth's progress
Aisha asks Ruth: "How would you feel about doing the trip again?"
This is a common first question that Aisha asks her learners. She deliberately asks such an open question in order to encourage her learner to assess how it went and whether they would like or need more training.
Aisha tries to avoid questions like: "Do you think you could do the trip alone next time?" This is a loaded question, and might suggest to Ruth that she should be able to complete the trip alone. Ruth should be given her own chance to review the practice session.
Ruth tells Aisha: "I got a great confidence boost from that. I was worried about missing the train when transferring from the bus to the train, but getting to the station didn't take long, like we planned, and the train came when I expected it. I feel like I could do it again, sure." Ruth doesn't indicate whether she would like to do it alone, though.
